BCUK seeks trustees and volunteers

Breast Cancer UK is a rapidly growing charity.  We are different from other cancer charities because:

  • we believe that breast cancer is preventable
  • We aim to significantly reduce breast cancer rates by inspiring public and political action to cut cancer-causing toxins and endocrine disrupting chemicals linked to breast cancer.
  • our focus is on primary prevention, whereas most other cancer charities are concerned with early detection and treatment.

We want the Government to include environmental pollutants as risk factors in its National Cancer Plan.

As a small charity, our trustees are actively involved in the day to day running of the charity and its campaigns.

We are seeking trustees/volunteers with a genuine concern about the impact of chemicals on human health and a passion for campaigning to reduce the incidence of cancer through tighter controls on the toxins to which we are all exposed. You should be able to devote at least one day a week on average to the charity, either helping to publicise and drive our campaigns or helping with bookkeeping, administration or fundraising. This could be done from home, but in addition we meet monthly (usually on a Wednesday afternoon) in London.

Enthusiasm and a willingness to learn are more important than detailed knowledge of the issues, although previous experience of campaigning, campaign planning, science, bookkeeping or administration would be useful.

For more details, or to apply, please email bcuk@langrish.eclipse.co.uk
