Policy & Advocacy
Breast Cancer UK campaigns for better environmental and public health policies which encourage a preventative approach to diseases like breast cancer.
We work to ensure that our messages and concerns are heard by policy makers across the UK and Europe. We do this in a number of ways – for example by giving evidence and opinions on consultations and draft legislation, working in collaboration with EU partners on broader public health and chemicals issues, writing to and meeting with Commissioners, Ministers, MPs and MEPS to discuss our concerns.
We have added some of our letters, consultation submissions and joint initatives here and will keep these pages updated as this area of work develops.
We campaign for better regulation of Endocrine Disrupting Chemicals (EDCs) to help prevent disease.
We are campaigning to ensure that the UK continues to improve its public health policies outside of the European Union
Breast Cancer UK is calling for improved public health policies that tackle the links between harmful chemicals and breast cancer.
Bisphenol A (BPA) is a known hormone disrupting chemical and is widely used in food and drinks packaging. We are calling for a ban on the use of BPA in food contact products.
Flame retardants are widely used in upholstery and furnishings. However, there is a growing body of evidence linking the use of flame retardants to a range of health problems including cancer.
Breast Cancer UK engages on issues relating to trade and industry where we believe it may impact on breast cancer risk.
Breast Cancer UK works with partners across Europe to promote a reduction in the use of pesticides and biocides connected to breast cancer.
