To help reduce the incidence of breast cancer we need help from a wide cross section of the community. Our campaigns are national and we are fortunate to receive help from all over the UK, from marathons in Brighton, concerts in Birmingham to golf days in Devon and sponsored head shaves in Scotland. Your options for getting involved are endless and organising an event with friends, family or work colleagues can be a lot of fun.
If you have never fundraised before do not worry, we are here to help! You may already have a fundraising idea of your own but if not we have lots of suggestions for you - just contact firstname.lastname@example.org for an informal discussion or information pack. Once you have decided on a fundraising project, we can also help you to plan your own event.
Alternatively, you may prefer to fundraise as part of a group. In 2011, the Rotary Club of Okehampton organised a ladies’ golf event and raised £1000. Barclays Bank organised a coffee and cake event at one of its branches, raising over £400 – a sum which was matched by its Head Office as part of the bank’s community support programme.
Other ways of getting involved as part of a group include challenge events such as trekking adventures or cycling challenges, there is a very wide choice. Search on Google to find one near to you.
Fundraising events are rewarding and can be great fun. Many are easy to join through online registration. Take a look at the Just giving website to see hundreds of ideas all over the UK and be inspired to help Breast Cancer UK.
If you are organising an event on behalf of Breast Cancer UK, please get in touch with us so we can offer advice and support . We may even be able to arrange publicity for your event and promote through our twitter and facebook accounts.
