Who is the CEO and management team of Breast Cancer UK | Breast Cancer UK

Our management team

  • Lynn Ladbrook is our Chief Executive.  She joined the charity in 2012 as Campaign Manager and became its CEO in June 2013. She began her career in the public sector followed by more than 15 years in political communications, public affairs, campaigning and advocacy.  Lynn brings with her a wealth of knowledge of both the environmental and health sectors.   She has held positions at the National Trust, Royal College of Nursing and World Wildlife Fund. She has worked on numerous environmental and health campaigns throughout her career, including WWF's Chemicals and Health Campaign which fought for tougher chemicals regulation across Europe.

  • Amanda Smith is our Operations and Fundraising Manager. Amanda grew up in South Africa and returned to the UK (her birthplace) in 2005, as a full time mum. Having worked all her life in the travel industry, she felt it was time for a change. Having lost two members of her family, as well as her best friend, to breast cancer in a short space of time, she feels that working for Breast Cancer UK is the perfect job for her and a chance to give back in memory of all those that have been touched by this disease.

  • Margaret Wexler is our Chemicals Policy and Research Officer. Margaret spent 15 years conducting research at the University of East Anglia before working as a lecturer in microbiology and biotechnology. Her research introduced her to the idea that tiny amounts of polluting chemicals may have profound effects, not only on the wider environment but also human health. For example, sewage contains small amounts of natural and synthetic oestrogens that, when released into the environment, can have detrimental effects on aquatic animals. She believes that these powerful chemicals illustrate how important it is to think about the effects that products of industry might have on human health.

  • Jack Brown is our Policy and Campaigns Officer. Jack has experience of analysing policy and developing successful political campaigns, having previously worked in policy roles at the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills and the Vice Chancellor’s Office at the University of Sheffield, and in political campaigns for the Liberal Democrats. Jack’s interest in environmental health was sparked by an experience of becoming ill after surfing in polluted UK coastal water, and he is passionate about  the vital work of Breast Cancer UK in changing public health policy.

  • Louise Bowers is our Digital Content and Communications Manager.  She has a wide range of communications experience, having worked extensively with national and regional media to successfully deliver high profile campaigns both in print and online.  Louise has previously worked for the Big Lottery Fund where she worked on a range of health and educational funding programmes including NHS 5-a-day, Healthy Living Centres, Breathing Places and the Peoples Millions.  Louise is passionate about promoting the work of third sector organisations, and demonstrating the power of community-led campaigns.
