Mulled ‘wine’ can be enjoyed without the need for alcohol!

Did you know that high consumption of alcohol can increase breast cancer risk in both women and men?

Any amount of alcohol affects women’s risk.  So, this Christmas, why not enjoy the festivities alcohol-free? It has the same great taste but reduces your risk of breast cancer.

Read our recipe for alcohol-free mulled wine below.

Preparation time: 10 minutes

Serves: 2-3

Ingredients

500ml pomegranate juice

1-2 tsp of organic honey

A handful of frozen blackberries

250ml apple juice

1 cinnamon stick

1 star anise

4 cloves

3 black peppercorns

1 orange –  sliced

How to cook

  1. Heat the pomegranate juice, honey, blackberries, and apple juice in a saucepan, and bring to a boil.
  2. Add the cinnamon, star anise, cloves, peppercorns, and slices of orange.
  3. Heat through, gently simmering for around 3-4 minutes, no less; otherwise, the drink can become bitter.
  4. Taste for sweetness before adding in some additional honey.
  5. Strain into your best heatproof glasses and enjoy your Christmas beverage.
