Breast Cancer UK joined hundreds of charities at a Service of Thanksgiving at Westminster Abbey to celebrate the remarkable difference they make in their communities.
His Royal Highness, The Prince of Wales, was among the guests at the special service. Held by the Benefact Group to celebrate its achievement of giving over £100million to good causes.
Breast Cancer UK was invited to attend the service as one of the 10,000 charities that have benefited from Benefact Group’s giving.
Breast Cancer UK received a £50,000 Movement for Good Award in 2020. This enabled it to digitalise its breast cancer prevention education programme and launch the Prevention Hub in June 2021. 40,300 people have already benefited from advice, helping them reduce their risk of breast cancer since the Prevention Hub launched.
His Royal Highness attended the service on behalf of The Prince’s Foundation. Benefact Group has supported the Foundation for a number of years. Speakers included Jay Blades, star of the Repair Shop. Supporter of literacy charity Read Easy UK and Sally Randall. And CEO and Founder of Abby’s Heroes.
“We were delighted to attend this prestigious event to celebrate the amazing difference that the Benefact Group makes to hundreds of charities across the UK. The £50,000 award that we received in 2020 has transformed the way we can deliver our vital breast cancer prevention advice. Enabling us to help even more people take action to reduce their risk. So that fewer people experience the devastating impact of a breast cancer diagnosis in the future. We can’t thank them enough.” Ellie Dorrell, Fundraising Manager
Benefact Group distributes donations through a range of programmes; employee giving, business giving and Group-led programmes such as its Movement for Good Awards. As well as giving all available profits to its charitable owner, the Benefact Trust.
This year’s Movement for Good Awards are open and will see £ 1 million given to charities.
Breast Cancer UK is encouraging people to nominate them for a chance to win £1,000. It’s quick and easy to nominate us at www.movementforgood.com
The winners will be drawn at random. The more times we are nominated the more chance it has of being selected.
Breast Cancer UK will use the £1,000 towards developing new content for the Prevention Hub to support people to reduce their risk of ever getting breast cancer, saving families from going through the impact of a breast cancer diagnosis and saving lives.
Mark Hews, Group Chief Executive of Benefact Group, said: “As a company whose purpose is to contribute to the greater good of society. Charitable giving is at the heart of what we do.
“Our Service of Thanksgiving at Westminster Abbey was a celebration of the incredible work that charities do every day in their communities. We are very proud of our achievement of donating £100million to good causes, which has helped to change thousands of lives for the better in the UK and abroad.”
