Give the gift of prevention this Christmas with presents that help loved ones reduce their risk of breast cancer.

Whether you want to plant that seed of thought that prevention is important or help them maintain their positive lifestyle, that perfect present can help make that lifestyle choice that much nicer.

Here are our top 5 ideas:

  1. Help your loved ones get active – from smartwatches that track their activity and motivate them to stay active to workout gear made from natural fibres to make them feel good when exercising. The benefit of regular physical activity is that it can significantly reduce your risk of developing breast cancer. Plus, wearing natural fibre clothing will reduce their exposure to harmful chemicals found in some synthetic workout gear.
  1. Make it easier for your loved one to eat healthily – sign them up for a regular organic fruit and veg box subscription. There are lots of national or local organic box schemes which deliver direct to your door. There are two benefits to this one. Firstly, eating organic will reduce their exposure to pesticides, which may be harmful. The second benefit is they’ll be eating more fruit and veg, which can help reduce their risk.
  1. Help your loved ones wear sustainable clothing – which is kinder to their skin and the planet. Natural fibre clothing is grown and produced using fewer harmful chemicals.  Buy organic cotton, bamboo or hemp clothing (or a voucher if you don’t know their size!). The benefit is they will be reducing their exposure to harmful chemicals and helping the planet too!
  1. Buy your loved ones safer beauty products – help them avoid harmful chemicals found in many cosmetics and toiletries by using our Ditch The Junk leaflet and checking the product label to make sure it doesn’t contain any of the harmful chemicals which have been linked to breast cancer. Read our Chemicals iGuide for more information.
  1. Help your loved ones fill their home with air-purifying house plants – buy them house plants such as Boston fern, Spider plant, Snake plant or Barberton Daisy, helping them to avoid using harmful perfumed air fresheners. Certain house plants naturally clean the air in your home, keeping it smelling clean and fresh.  The benefit is they will be reducing their constant exposure to harmful chemicals linked to breast cancer in their home.

Hopefully, this gives you some ideas to help you buy the perfect present this Christmas.
