Dear Sir/Madam I am writing to express my concern about the current lack of transparency in cosmetic product labelling, particularly the use of "parfum” and “fragrance”. This is because they are often used to describe complex, but potentially harmful chemical mixtures. I believe it is essential that the public has full access to information about the ingredients in the products we use on our bodies every day. I closely follow the work of Breast Cancer UK. They are the only charity in the UK that advocate on chemical risk factors such as endocrine disrupting chemicals (EDCs) associated with the disease. This matter is significantly important to me. *YOUR CONNECTION GOES HERE* Scientific studies have demonstrated how EDCs can interfere with our hormone systems by interfering with oestrogen, even at low levels. This has been linked to a range of health issues, including an increased risk of breast cancer. Manufacturers are not even required to list all ingredients in products, especially for fragranced products. Clearer and more transparent labelling empowers consumers to make informed choices and can protect the public from chemical harm in the long term.
