Virtual fundraising

Creative fundraising ideas for our ‘new normal’ times….

Host a virtual quiz night with friends and family

You can raise funds by asking all participants to donate. Have fun with your team names, even get dressed up.  Suitable for all ages you can even have a specialist rounds for the kids. You can find readymade quizzes or you can even create your own with apps such as, Kahoot.

We’re going on a Coin hunt

This is a great way to spend the afternoon, challenge the children to look around the house for coins, down the back of the sofa, in the car, under the bed, in forgotten money boxes and whatever you find you can donate.

Games Day

Have a marathon board game tournament.  You could pay to enter or get sponsored per hour. You could play against your friends via video call or you could play at home with the family.  Post photo’s online at the beginning and the end.  Who will be crowned the games day champion?

Run where you can

With all the races and park runs being cancelled this year, why not run the event in your own home?  Collect the sponsors as you would have before but use your garden or home to complete the distance you can even use your hour a day exercise to clock up those distances.

Host a karaoke night

Invite your friends and family to a karaoke evening, ask all participants to donate.  You can run the event via video call, you could even have a X-factor style competition to find a winner.

Donate the cost of your commute

With all of us having to stay at home why not donate some of the cost of your commute, the cost of petrol, parking or train/bus ticket that you haven’t had to buy.  Why not donate the cost of your lunch or the takeaway coffee’s that you haven’t had, every penny counts?

Go bald for Breast Cancer UK

With all the hairdressers being closed there’s no better time than now to shave your head. Read Richard’s Story and share with friends and family on social media. If you’re brave enough you can even stream the event live for everyone to enjoy.

Go make up free

While we are all staying at home it’s the perfect time to go makeup free. You can donate what you would have normally spent on cosmetics, this could also be beneficial to your health and skin. Reducing your exposure to harmful chemicals found in some cosmetics may help reduce your risk of breast cancer too – see Chemicals and Environment for more details.

Going without

Could you go without your favourite tipple or chocolate for a month or maybe give up smoking.  You could get sponsored for going without, raise money for a good cause and you could even see some positive effects on your health.

Online Pet show

Create an online pet show with different categories, such as, pets that look most like their owner, naughtiest pet or funniest outfit. You could charge for people to submit entries and award virtual rosettes for the winner. If you post all the entries online, you could ask your friends to like the photos and the ones with the most likes win.  Bonus is everyone gets to see your pets.

Facebook Fundraiser

It is so simple we would encourage everyone try it. If you have a birthday or a special occasion coming up such as a wedding, anniversary, christening, then you can create a Facebook fundraiser and encourage your friends to donate in lieu of gifts. To create a facebook fundraiser follow this link.
