Christmas
Virtual fundraising

All we want this Christmas is a little help to fill our Christmas stocking – look at our festive fundraising ideas to see how you can get involved to help keep our breast cancer prevention work going.

With thousands of Christmas parties, Christmas Fayres and social events cancelled this year due to Covid-19, we have created some fantastic festive fundraising ideas to bring some Christmas cheer to your virtual Christmas festivities.

Zooming around the Christmas tree

To help you start spreading the Christmas cheer we have created a festive background, which you can download here and use on all your video calls this festive season!

Run Santa Run

Don a Santa’s hat, take to the streets and set yourself an exercise challenge of your choice this December. Decide on a challenge that suits you – whether it is running 5K, walking 20k or cycling 50K all you need to do is set up a Just Giving page and ask your friends, family and colleagues to sponsor you as you face the wintery weather and bring some festive cheer to people as you pass by in your Santa’s hat!

Guess the Name of the Snowwoman

Share our joyful Christmas Snowwoman with your colleagues, friends and family this Christmas and ask them to make a small donation in return for a chance to guess the name.  This could be a great game to play as part of your virtual Christmas festivities with work colleagues, family or friends.

All you need to do is:

  • Download our Snowwoman and choose a suitably snowy name (but keep it secret)
  • Share our Snowwoman with your colleagues, friends or families by email and ask for a small donation to join in
  • Offer a small prize to the winner -what about a bottle of alcohol-free wine to a handcrafted Christmas decoration?
  • Collect the donations which you can do easily by setting up a JustGiving page

Christmas Bake Off

Everyone loves a festive treat and a slice of healthy competition! With thousands of parties being cancelled and opportunities to socialise limited, what better way to get together with family, friends and colleagues than by hosting a virtual festive bake off. Although it won’t be possible to taste test the entries this year, judging can be based on the overall look and festive design of the entries!

All you need to do is:

  • Pick your festive treat, from mince pies to gingerbread houses, the scope for festive creativity is endless.
  • Decide who your judges are
  • Ask for a small donation for entries (you can do this easily by setting up a Just Giving page)
  • Set up a virtual meeting (using Teams, Zoom or Skype) and send out your invitations
  • Get baking!

Do you want to build a snowman?

White Christmases might be a thing of the past but that is no reason not to challenge your friends, family or colleagues to a virtual ‘build a snowman’ competition – you just might have to get creative with the materials you use. The winner could be the tallest snowman, the most complete snowman or the most creative snowman – you can choose the judging criteria!

All you need to do is:

  • Set up a Just Giving page and ask for a small donation to enter
  • Pick a date and set up a virtual call. Don’t forget to send out your invitations!
  • On the day choose a time frame, for example 15 minutes, and challenge all entrants to build a snowman in front of the screen in that time!

Deck your desk and Festive Fancy Dress

With many of us working remotely and socialising with colleagues virtually what better way to add some festive cheer and sparkle to your video calls than by decorating your workspace or by dressing in your most sparkly, festive outfit.

All you need to do is:

  • Set up a Just Giving page and ask colleagues for a donation to take part.
  • Encourage all colleagues to get decorating or dressing up
  • You could even offer a small prize for the best decorated workspace or outfit

Caroloke

Who doesn’t love a Christmas Carol! This year it may not be possible to hear carol singers or join in person, but you could host a virtual Carol-oke night. If singing isn’t your thing you could turn your Carol-oke into charades, Christmas joke telling or Santa Says.

All you need to do is:

  • Pick a date and set up your video call
  • Remember to send out your invitations and tune your vocal cords!
  • Set up a JustGiving page and ask for a small donation to enter
  • On the night wear your most festive outfits and sing your hearts out!

Christmas quizzing

2020 has been the year of the virtual quiz so why should Christmas 2020 be any different!  We have prepared a sparkling 25 question Christmas quiz for you to challenge your family, friends or work colleagues to this festive season. With a mixture of general knowledge, Christmas and breast cancer related questions, everyone will be in with a chance to win!

All you need to do is:

  • Download our Christmas quiz here
  • Set up a Just Giving page and ask everyone taking part for a small donation
  • Choose a date and set up your video call
  • Don’t forget to send out your invitations
  • Why not all wear your Christmas jumpers!

Christmas movie marathon

Everyone loves a Christmas movie so why not challenge yourself to see how many you can watch over a weekend? Warning! You may need some healthy snacks and drinks to get you through.

All you need to do is?

  • Decide on your movies
  • Pick a date and make sure you have plenty of healthy drinks, snacks and blankets
  • Set up a Just Giving page and ask family and friends to sponsor you or make a donation via our website for every film you watch

Donations instead of cards or presents

If you are concerned about the environment, finding it tricky to get presents to friends and family, or have everything you need this year, why not ask for donations instead of cards and presents to support our breast cancer prevention work.

All you need to do is:

  • Set up a Just Giving Page here or Facebook fundraiser by following our tips here, share the link with family and friends and invite them to make a donation and leave you a Christmas message!

Thank you for your continued support, your generosity and belief in our work is amazing 🧡
