Breast cancer prevention talks

Bringing breast cancer prevention to your workplace or community

Our CEO, Thalie Martini, offers online talks (we can also offer in-person talks, if required).

Talks can be arranged at a mutual time to suit you throughout the day and are suitable for delivery during a lunch and learn session. These talks will provide a background to breast cancer and give practical tips for reducing people’s risk.

We want to highlight that we are a breast cancer prevention charity, and our work focuses on breast cancer prevention. We provide education and support to empower people to take preventative action to reduce their risk of developing breast cancer. You can find out more about our prevention work here.

The Government’s Prevention is better than cure paperencourages employers to promote healthy lifestyles. Many businesses are already taking action on the issue of health and well-being in the workplace. As a result, they benefit from higher staff morale and lower sickness rates.  Ultimately, a healthy workforce can often mean a more productive one.

What’s included in the talks?

  • An hour-long talk on breast cancer prevention. (Our talks ordinarily last 45 minutes, with 15 minutes allowed at the end for questions.  Shorter or longer talks can be arranged depending on the number of attendees, the type of event, and any specific requirements you have.)
  • The latest statistics on breast cancer
  • What breast cancer is, and what causes it
  • The link between oestrogen and breast cancer
  • The environmental and chemical causes of the disease, including the impact of everyday products and plastics
  • Information on lifestyle risk factors
  • How you can reduce your risk
  • Tips on reducing your risk and the risk of those around you
  • How to reduce the chemical burden on your body

The workplace is an important setting to encourage prevention as many lifestyle tips can be incorporated into the working day, very often enhancing your organisation’s health and well-being message as a whole.

Please be aware that our volunteering programme had to be scaled down due to the COVID-19 pandemic, so we may be unable to offer in-person support at all events; however, your support could help us reinstate this.

Thank you for your assistance and again for your interest in Breast Cancer UK. We look forward to hearing from you. Please see our T&Cs below.
