Own The Adventure (OTA), the innovative and sustainable swimwear brand, have just launched their new official partnership with Breast Cancer UK with a bracing plunge for prevention at Chalkwell beach in Essex.

The sun shone as swimmers united, donning their life-saving cossies for an icy dip. This marks the beginning of a ground-breaking initiative designed to empower individuals through adventure to reduce their breast cancer risk.

Research shows that maintaining an active lifestyle can reduce your risk of breast cancer by around 20%. This communal plunge for prevention aims to inspire a new movement of women to take charge of their health, all while enjoying the great outdoors.  But the health benefits aren’t only physical. This is why Chill UK, the organisation prescribing cold water swimming to treat anxiety and depression, were also taking the plunge at the spring launch.

“It was so lovely to see so many people attend and dip in the chilly waters – but everyone with massive smilesI cannot wait to continue collaborating and encouraging everyone to get in the sea!” said Simone Dodge of Chill UK.

The thrill of the chill

At OTA, the focus is on empowering individuals to embrace the freedom, thrill, and resilience that come with adventure. Our bold new partnership aims to foster a culture of wellness through outdoor exploration. That’s why a portion of the proceeds from each purchase of OTA’s swimsuits will go directly to Breast Cancer UK, helping to fund vital research and education into prevention.

“Partnering with Own The Adventure gives us a unique opportunity to engage a new audience and empower them to make their health a priority,” said Thalie Martini, CEO at Breast Cancer UK. “We know that at least 30% of breast cancer case are preventable, and we’re excited about the potential of this collaboration. It aligns perfectly with our vision of creating a world where everyone is informed, supported, and equipped to take control of their breast health.”

“Love Yourself, Check Yourself”

Through their innovative design, sustainable materials, and commitment to health and wellness, OTA is combining adventure and breast health advocacy in a way that connects with people in a meaningful way. The partnership’s call to action – “Love yourself, Check Yourself” – will be featured inside every OTA swimsuit, reminding customers of the importance of performing regular self-checks for early detection.

As part of this collaboration, the OTA collection will feature special products with unique branding to raise awareness. This includes limited edition swimsuits and accessories, designed to inspire confidence, adventure, and commitment to health.

The official launch took place on Chalkwell Beach, Southend-on-Sea, on Saturday 29th March 2025. For more information, please contact Andi at [email protected]
