10 ways to get involved with Prevention Week!
Published 15 Sep 2017
1 in 8 women in the UK will be diagnosed with breast cancer during their lifetime, with 1 in 5 being under 50 years old – these are shocking statistics but research tells us at least 1 in 4 breast cancers cases are preventable but this requires action.
If we can share information more widely, more people will understand the risk factors and can take action to reduce their risk.
But it’s not only personal action that will prevent breast cancer, it requires better health policies and laws to protect our health.
To help you join in our week of action for prevention, here are our top ten ways you can get involved:
1. Sharing is caring
The easiest way to get involved is to share our message with your friends and family. Print off our top tips leaflet and give it to a friend.
2.Tell your tribe
We have produced a number of infographics which highlight key facts about breast cancer and prevention. Share them on your social media accounts and encourage others to repost. You can find them in our supporter’s tool kit here.

OK so orange isn’t everyone’s favourite colour but orange combines the energy of red and the happiness of yellow. It represents enthusiasm, determination, success and encouragement. Everything we need to make the prevention of breast cancer a reality. So get your friends, family, work colleagues or team mates to put on something orange and help raise vital funds to prevent breast cancer. Sign up here.
Still not convinced by orange, then how about a day of pampering with your friends. Host a green beauty event – reduce your risk and raise money to prevent breast cancer in one! Sign up here.

We still don’t know what causes around 40% of breast cancer cases. We need to see more funding going towards the prevention of breast cancer. Our manifesto outlines the key areas we think need to be addressed to help make prevention a reality. Share our Manifesto for the Prevention of Breast Cancer with your MP and ask them what are they doing to prevent breast cancer?
8. Book a Let’s Prevent Breast Cancer talk
