Alison has spent 18 years in public health policy and is passionate about the role of prevention. She currently works in a freelance capacity providing insight, analysis and policy research to organisations concerned with developing public health strategy. Prior to this, her roles included Associate Director at the UK Health Forum, a policy think tank devoted to the prevention of avoidable non-communicable disease and a two-year secondment to the Department of Health to lead the cross-Government physical activity strategy. She also ran a social enterprise for 8 years which gave her first hand experience of the governance and legal frameworks concerning small charities. Alison has a PhD in Cancer Research (environmental carcinogenesis) and a Masters in Public Health.
